In an era slightly before survival competitions totally took over K-pop, the 2017 Mnet series Idol School created the then-nine-member girl group fromis_9 (albeit amid serious and real claims of vote rigging). There were some changes in management over the years, but the group ultimately ended up squarely in the hands of Pledis Entertainment in August 2021, which in turn makes fromis_9 part of the HYBE family of groups.
