When Blockberry Creative expelled Chuu from the girl group Loona on November 25, 2022, it incurred a domino effect that would lead to the dissolution of Loona and basically destroy Blockberry itself. This was bad news for the girls training as Bebez, a group that Blockberry had previously planned to debut as early as 2022. However, five Bebez girls that had trained together since 2018, first at Polaris Entertainment, reformed as Geenius and found a new home at, well, HOMe (house of music entertainment), as well as the production company “sure place.” Geenius debuted on January 5, 2024 with “Voyage.” To learn exactly how old the Geenius members are, here is the current age and birthday for Yeyoung, Sion, Mika, Zoe, and Andamiro.
How Old Geenius Members Are Explained: Current Age & Birthday
- Yeyoung is 24 years old and was born on May 31, 2000.
- Sion is 23 years old and was born on March 7, 2001.
- Mika is 22 years old and was born on January 8, 2002.
- Zoe is 22 years old and was born on April 12, 2002.
- Andamiro is 21 years old and was born on May 6, 2003.
Everyone in Geenius debuted as an adult, which is actually somewhat rare for a K-pop girl group, for better or worse. (It’s a far cry from Young Posse, who debuted with a 13-year-old in 2023.) Andamiro, real name Yeon Seungju, is the maknae of Geenius, meaning she is the youngest member. Meanwhile, Yeyoung is the oldest member of Geenius, and while she is presumed to be the leader of the group, it is not yet confirmed.
Prior to Geenius, Yeyoung and Sion competed on survival competition series Girls Planet 999 in 2021 when they were 21 and 20 years old, respectively. Zoe, real name Choi Hayoung, had previously competed on the 2017-2018 survival competition series, Mixnine, when she was 15 years old. Zoe is notably from Milan, Italy and speaks fluent Italian, though she is ethnically Korean. Prior to her debut, Andamiro was also already a known friend of Dayeon from Kep1er, and they graduated school together. Lastly, Mika, real name Yoo Dahyun, was mostly just known for being a Polaris and Blockberry trainee prior to debut.
