When Will ARTMS Debut?

The road from Blockberry Creative to Loona to Modhaus to ARTMS was long and fraught. You probably know the story by now: Blockberry effectively imploded when there was a backlash to expelling Chuu from Loona in November 2022, resulting in the other Loona members gradually leaving the company across 2023 and finding new homes in the entertainment industry. On March 17, 2023, Modhaus, a company led by former Loona creative director Jaden Jeong, announced that it had signed exclusive contracts with JinSoul, Kim Lip, Heejin, and Choerry, and then Haseul joined as well in June 2023. As we have explained in detail, JinSoul, Kim Lip, and Choerry redebuted as Odd Eye Circle in July 2023, and Heejin and Haseul enjoyed some individual promotions as well. But now the time has come for all of the ARTMS members to perform together at last. Here is the full answer to when JinSoul, Haseul, Kim Lip, Heejin, and Choerry will together debut as ARTMS at Modhaus.

ARTMS Will Debut in Full on May 31, 2024

On February 29, 2024, Modhaus revealed the “ARTMS Strategy,” containing the release dates for four “premiere singles” that would culminate in the release of a full-length album, Dall. “Birth” is the first premiere single, as selected by the fans (described further below), and will be released on March 29, 2024. Three more premiere singles will be released on April 11, April 25, and May 10, 2024, respectively. Finally, the first full-length ARTMS album, Dall, will be released on May 31, 2024, so one could say that ARTMS will debut in full on May 31, 2024. (However, Modhaus has cautioned that some of these dates could change, and if that proves to be the case, this space will be updated accordingly.)

Previously, ARTMS and Modhaus had announced on January 20, 2024 that they would allow the fans to vote for ARTMS’s debut / premiere song and prerelease song from a selection of four songs. One song would be revealed daily between January 22 and January 25, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. KST, and fan voting would only be available on the “Cosmo : the gate” app between January 26 and January 28 at 11:00 a.m. KST. The top-voted song would become the debut track from the group, while the song in second place would be the prerelease song. The other two songs were, at least initially, intended to be discarded completely. The ARTMS members discussed the songs in the video that announced this event, if you are curious to hear their thoughts. (In fact, the members themselves eliminated a fifth song option from contention during that video.) Ultimately, “Birth” was the song that received the most votes from fans, followed by “조난(Distress).”

Prior to their official debut together, all five ARTMS ladies recorded the holiday song, “The Carol 3.0,” which was released on December 1, 2023 with an accompanying “special clip” video. This recording was a new take on and follow-up to “The Carol 2.0,” which was recorded by Vivi, Choerry, and Yves and released back on December 13, 2017. And that song was in turn a follow-up to “The Carol,” performed by Heejin, Hyunjin, and Haseul back in December 2016. In that sense, “The Carol 3.0” was special but not an entirely new song at the time of its release.

In summary, ARTMS will make their full debut as a five-member group on May 31, 2024, with the release of their first full-length album, Dall. Four premiere singles are being released in the lead-up to the album, between March and May 2024.
