When Did TWS Debut?

For many years, despite ups and downs, Pledis Entertainment was defined by the monstrous success of its K-pop boy group, Seventeen. However, as the first new boy group in closer to nine years, TWS is aiming to change that. TWS stands for “Twenty-Four Seven with Us,” and in Korean, the group name is pronounced like “two us.” The name is a conscious continuation of the spirit of Seventeen, where the group name incorporates a number that represents the composition of the group. So here is the complete answer to when Shinyu, Dohoon, Youngjae, Hanjin, Jihoon, and Kyungmin made their debut as TWS at Pledis Entertainment.

TWS Made Their Debut on January 22, 2024 with Sparkling Blue and “Plot Twist”

TWS debuted on January 22, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. KST / 4:00 a.m. ET with their first mini-album, Sparkling Blue. A pre-release single, “Oh Mymy : 7s,” was released on January 2, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. KST / 4:00 a.m. ET, and its “prologue” music video also featured a brief introduction to the members. The full, official tracklist for Sparkling Blue was revealed on January 10, 2024 with manhwa-like graphics, and the tracklist includes five songs in total: “첫 만남은 계획대로 되지않아” (“The First Meeting Never Goes According to Plan”) (title track), “unplugged boy,” “first hooky,” “BFF,” and “Oh Mymy:7s.” The title track, which is also known in English as “Plot Twist,” was composed by WASURENAI, Jin Jeon, Ohway!, Nmore, Heon Seo (헌서), Building Owner, Glenn, T-SK, and YouthK.

On the day of their debut, there was a debut show on Mnet at 7:00 p.m. KST / 5:00 a.m. ET, as well as a debut showcase at 9:00 p.m. KST / 7:00 a.m. ET. The “첫 만남은 계획대로 되지않아” MV was also of course released at the time of debut. During the debut show, “Oh Mymy:7s,” “unplugged boy,” “BFF,” and “첫 만남은 계획대로 되지않아” were performed. Later, on February 14, 2024, TWS would win a music show for the first time, with “첫 만남은 계획대로 되지않아” on Show Champion.

Prior to those events, the official logo motion for TWS was first revealed at midnight KST on December 21, 2023, and it was the first piece of media ever officially introduced by Pledis for the group. In fact, at the time that the first promotion scheduler for TWS was announced, the six members of the group had not even been revealed yet. Rather, all that was known was that Pledis was hoping to create a new sound and genre for TWS — “boyhood pop,” existing as “an extension of the team’s bright and refreshing identity,” and “the group’s musical journey will ignite the pure and beautiful sentiments of youth.” This actually sounded quite akin to when SM Entertainment declared in 2023 that their boy group RIIZE would usher in their unique brand of “emotional pop.”

On January 4, 2024, each TWS member received their own individual “First Time” introduction video, with some members rapping or narrating over video of themselves. A profile film also formally revealed the members’ ages and original MBTIs. Of course, since debut, much of this information has become common knowledge for fans.

In summary, TWS made their debut on January 22, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. KST / 4:00 a.m. ET with Sparkling Blue and lead single “첫 만남은 계획대로 되지 않아” (or “Plot Twist”), and pre-release single “Oh Mymy : 7s” was released on January 2, 2024. Next up, check out how old the TWS members currently are, what their MBTIs are, and who the leader of the group is.
