When Is the Red Velvet Comeback?

Among the biggest girl groups of the third generation of K-pop, it could be easily argued that Red Velvet had the most diverse sound. One comeback could veer wildly in sound compared to what came immediately before it. That only heightens the excitement of new music from the group, because fans always have no idea what could be coming next. Red Velvet finally came back with Chill Kill in November 2023, but 2024 is a new ball game. So here is the answer so far as to when Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy, and Yeri may make their next Red Velvet comeback — this time with what may be a 10th anniversary album for 2024.

Red Velvet Is Scheduled to Release a Comeback Mini-Album in Q2 2024

In February 2024, SM Entertainment confirmed that Red Velvet is scheduled to come back with a mini-album in Q2 2024, meaning between April and June. There are no concrete details beyond that at this time, but there are other pieces of information worth discussing. For starters, on February 7, 2024, it was confirmed that Irene had renewed her contract with SM Entertainment, which is hopeful for the future of Red Velvet. Seulgi had previously renewed her contract with SM.

Secondly, on December 31, 2023, Irene had expressed to Filipino news outlet Rappler that she hoped Red Velvet can release a comeback album for their 10th anniversary in 2024, but she noted that there were no concrete plans at SM Entertainment for it at that time. “There might be an upcoming album,” Irene said. “However, there’s nothing that’s firmly scheduled, so we cannot really disclose [details] about it.” Red Velvet originally debuted in August 2014, so if SM does decide to do something special for the 10th anniversary, we can likely expect to hear about it this summer.

Previously, Red Velvet came back with Chill Kill on November 13, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. KST. The tracklist includes 10 songs in total: “Chill Kill,” “Knock Knock,” “Underwater,” “Will I Ever See You Again?,” “Nightmare,” “Iced Coffee,” “One Kiss,” “Bulldozer,” “Wings,” and “풍경화 (Scenery).” There was a Red Velvet livestream for the album release at 5:00 p.m. KST on November 13. This was Red Velvet’s first new music since The ReVe Festival 2022 – Birthday in November 2022, and it is their first full-length album since The Perfect Red Velvet in November 2017, which contained the massively popular “Bad Boy.”

Chill Kill is available to purchase directly from SM Town and the likes of Amazon and eBay in multiple versions at varying price points, including a limited-edition “bag” version that costs a bit more but contains a literal bag, which you can view below.

In summary, the next Red Velvet comeback is scheduled for Q2 2024, so new music is planned for between April and June 2024. Check back early and often for additional details.
