When Is the Red Velvet Comeback?

Among the biggest girl groups of the third generation of K-pop, it could be easily argued that Red Velvet had the most diverse sound. One comeback could veer wildly in sound compared to what came immediately before it. That only heightens the excitement of new music from the group, because fans always have no idea what could be coming next. It had been a good while since their last comeback though. So here is the exact answer as to when Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy, and Yeri made their latest Red Velvet comeback — this time with the release of their third full-length album, Chill Kill (initially announced as What a Chill Kill).

The Red Velvet Comeback Happened on November 13, 2023 with Chill Kill

Red Velvet came back with Chill Kill on November 13, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. KST. The tracklist includes 10 songs in total: “Chill Kill,” “Knock Knock,” “Underwater,” “Will I Ever See You Again?,” “Nightmare,” “Iced Coffee,” “One Kiss,” “Bulldozer,” “Wings,” and “풍경화 (Scenery).” There was a Red Velvet livestream for the album release at 5:00 p.m. KST on November 13. This is Red Velvet’s first new music since The ReVe Festival 2022 – Birthday in November 2022, and it is their first full-length album since The Perfect Red Velvet in November 2017, which contained the massively popular “Bad Boy.”

Chill Kill is available to purchase directly from SM Town and the likes of Amazon and eBay in multiple versions at varying price points, including a limited-edition “bag” version that costs a bit more but contains a literal bag, which you can view below.

Seulgi renewed her contract with SM Entertainment in August 2023, but the contract renewal process among the other members remains unclear. A report from September 2023 claimed that Irene is unlikely to renew her contract with SM, but certainly nothing is official as of yet. Irene is the oldest member of Red Velvet by three years and in her 30s, and she was 23 years old when the group debuted. It would make sense if she wanted to try something new, despite being the leader of Red Velvet. However, encouragingly, SM Entertainment noted in November 2023 that Chill Kill is not intended to be the final Red Velvet release.

In summary, November 13, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. KST is when Red Velvet made their comeback with Chill Kill, the third full-length album. All five members of the group are part of this comeback.
