After 10 weeks of episodes, the finale of the JTBC reality survival series R U Next decided the six final members of a new K-pop girl group at HYBE Labels and Belift Lab, called ILLIT (originally written as “I’LL-IT”). The name “represents choosing your own verb to put between I’ll and it,” and it expresses making independent decisions. Two members of the group were chosen in part by viewer voting: Wonhee and Youngseo (in order). The other four were chosen by the company: Minju, Iroha, Moka, and Yunah (in order). ILLIT debuted on March 25, 2024 with SUPER REAL ME and lead single “Magnetic.” Unfortunately, Youngseo left the group prior to debut, making it a five-member group. • Yunah is 20 years old and was born on January 15, 2004.
• Minju is 19 years old and was born on May 11, 2004.
• Moka is 19 years old and was born on October 8, 2004.
• Wonhee is 16 years old and was born on June 26, 2007.
• Iroha is 16 years old and was born on February 4, 2008.

Predebut member Youngseo was born on November 13, 2005. On January 5, 2024, Belift Lab announced that it and Youngseo had come to a “mutual agreement to terminate” her contract.

Yunah is the oldest member of the group, and while the group leader has not yet been officially announced, she makes an obvious candidate for the role, having trained for five years. Meanwhile, Iroha is the maknae of ILLIT, meaning she is the youngest member of the group. Age 15 is a younger but very normal age at which to debut in K-pop, especially compared to a younger-skewing group like BabyMonster. Incidentally, Moka and Iroha are Japanese, while the rest of the members are Korean, so this is a group with an international composition.
