Boys Planet played out across 12 exciting episodes between February and April 2023, with 98 male contestants from multiple countries competing in a survival competition. It was great fun for those who watched, but once the show concluded and a new K-pop boy group was born, the next question instantly became when they would debut! The nine members of Zerobaseone come from several different companies, but they will all perform under the company WAKEONE for a period of 2.5 years in total. And here is the full answer to when Zerobaseone (ZB1) made their debut.
Zerobaseone (ZB1) Debuted on July 10, 2023 with the Lead Single “In Bloom”
Kim Jiwoong, Zhang Hao, Sung Hanbin, Seok Matthew, Kim Taerae, Ricky, Kim Gyuvin, Park Gunwook, and Han Yujin made their debut as ZB1 on July 10, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. KST with their first mini-album, Youth in the Shade, and the lead single “In Bloom.” The music video for “In Bloom” was released on the same day. Youth in the Shade contains six songs in total: “Back to ZEROBASE,” “In Bloom,” “New Kidz on the Block,” “우주먼지 (and I),” “Our Season,” and “Always.” On the day of its release, Youth in the Shade broke the record for highest first-day and first-week sales of any debut K-pop album, at 1,240,700 copies, and it was even the first debut K-pop album to sell more than one million copies in one day.
Prior to debut, on June 16, 2023, a “Back to ZEROBASE” film video was released. This was followed up by a video of the ZB1 members reacting to the film, as well as a behind-the-scenes filming video. After debut, on July 10, 2023 at 8:00 p.m. KST, Mnet aired ZEROBASEONE DEBUT SHOW: In Bloom. Later on, on July 18, 2023, Zerobaseone won their first music show, The Show, for “In Bloom.”
As we have detailed elsewhere, the Zerobaseone members vary significantly in how old they are, with an age gap of more than eight years between the oldest and youngest member. The members also come from three different countries in total, including South Korea, increasing their international appeal. The leader of ZB1 hails from Korea though, as one would typically expect.
