There are few names in K-pop as fitting for their group as that of the YG Entertainment group BigBang, one of the all-time most popular groups and a leader of the second generation. BigBang’s accomplishments are legion, and their influence on K-pop as a whole is enormous. It is difficult to downplay the impact this group has had, and the individual members have had diverse careers as well (albeit not always in good ways). BigBang officially debuted on August 19, 2006, and their first single was “We Belong Together.” Seungri and T.O.P are no longer officially part of BigBang, and only Taeyang is under contract with YG Entertainment in any capacity anymore. Nonetheless, to be comprehensive, we will discuss all five members here. So to learn exactly how old all five original BigBang members are, here is the current age and birthday for T.O.P, Taeyang, G-Dragon, Daesung, and Seungri.
How Old the BigBang Members Are: Current Age & Birthday
- T.O.P is 36 years old and was born on November 4, 1987.
- Taeyang is 35 years old and was born on May 18, 1988.
- G-Dragon is 35 years old and was born on August 18, 1988.
- Daesung is 35 years old and was born on April 26, 1989.
- Seungri is 33 years old and was born on December 12, 1990.
Taeyang, G-Dragon, and Daesung are ostensibly still current BigBang members, despite not being signed to YG Entertainment. (G-Dragon was the final member to leave YG, in late 2023, but Taeyang is currently part of YG subsidiary The Black Label.) Meanwhile, on March 11, 2019, Seungri announced his retirement from the entertainment industry amid a scandal that resulted in a prison sentence that would ultimately last 18 months. On February 7, 2022, YG Entertainment announced that T.O.P’s contract with YG had ended, and on May 29, 2023, T.O.P clarified that he was no longer part of BigBang.
At the time that BigBang debuted back in August 2006, the members were the following ages: T.O.P was 18, Taeyang was 18, G-Dragon was a brand new 18, Daesung was 17, and Seungri was 15. Seungri was the maknae (“youngest member”) of BigBang until his retirement in 2019 at age 28, after which time Daesung became the maknae. T.O.P was the oldest member of BigBang during his tenure, but G-Dragon has always been the leader of the group.
