Boynextdoor debuted amid a lot of anticipation back in May 2023, as the first K-pop boy group from Zico’s KOZ Entertainment under the HYBE umbrella. In a rather unusual move, they decided to release three singles for their debut, each with a music video filmed in Los Angeles and contributing to one overall story. It was a really charming introduction to the group, with members Sungho, Riwoo, Jaehyun, Taesan, Leehan, and Woonhak all living up to the wholesome premise that was promised by their group name. The Boynextdoor Comeback Happened on September 4, 2023
HYBE and KOZ Entertainment confirmed that Boynextdoor would release their first EP / mini-album on September 4, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. KST, called WHY.. The album contains six songs in total: “돌아버리겠다 (But I Like You),” “One and Only,” “Serenade,” “Crying,” “뭣 같아 (But Sometimes),” and “ABCDLOVE.” The first three tracks are of course the three singles that Boynextdoor debuted with back in May 2023, while the latter three tracks are new. “뭣 같아 (But Sometimes)” is the title track for WHY.., and Boynextdoor members Jaehyun, Taesan, and Woonhak contributed to the songwriting in some capacity on each of the three new songs on the album.
WHY.. was released in “Moody” and “Dazed” packaging versions, which each received concept photos and films. A teaser video for the lead music video was released on August 31, 2023 at 11:00 p.m. KST ahead of the full WHY.. release.
Physical packaging and group photos were fully revealed for the “Moody” and “Dazed” (and exclusive Weverse) versions of the album, and WHY.. is available for purchase at domestic and international retailers, including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Target, with Target offering an exclusive photocard.
Additionally, on September 4, 2023 at 8:00 p.m. KST, Mnet / M2 YouTube aired a new special with Boynextdoor, called Boynextdoor 2Night, which appears to be a follow-up to their debut showcase entitled Boynextdoor Tonight! A month later, on October 11, 2023, Boynextdoor released an “ABCDLOVE” music video as well.
